Chief Taylor deserves our gratitude for 35 years of VVFD service
Editor:
I hope the citizens of Vandalia, and most importantly, the majority members of Vandalia¹s Volunteer Fire Department, realize how much of a loss they have suffered with the recent change in the chief of the fire department.
Chief Ed Taylor deserves a round of applause for the 35 years of service he gave to the city and surrounding communities. He is a well-respected, well-educated, and upstanding citizen and businessman. His service and dedication to the fire department, city and, most importantly, the citizens has not gone unnoticed by the gracious people of the community and the honorable minority members of the fire department.
Chief Taylor is professional, has integrity, has been devoted to his duty as a firefighter/chief, and has shown excellence over his 35 years of service with VVFD. This type of leader is needed in the fire service to make quick, correct and, most importantly, safe decisions. Chief Taylor always had the best interest of the citizens, the city and the firefighters in mind when making operational and sustainability decisions.
I would like to say thank you to Ed Taylor for saving lives and protecting property for so many years. The city will always think of you when they see the new ladder truck you oversaw and sent to production responding down the road.
