Abbie Marie Corkern will be graduating from Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, La., this Saturday.

Corkern is the daughter of Harold Corkern and the late Diana Friesner Corkern, and the granddaughter of Bill and Janet Friesner of Vandalia.
When Corkern was 4 years old, her grandparents took her to Disney World, and she said that that was where she was going to work when she grew up.
Corkern will start work in graphic design at the Walt Disney Co. in Orlando, Fla., on Jan. 6.

McKendree University
Artwork by Brittany Anspach of Vandalia is featured in an All-Student Show at the McKendree Gallery of Art.
Anspach is a McKendree first-year art major taking classes in beginning drawing.
The exhibition at the gallery, which is located at 224 W. St. Louis St. in Lebanon, opened on Dec. 5 and continues through Dec. 23, with gallery hours by appointment.
Every student enrolled in an art class this semester was required to submit work for the show. For many, it is the first time their work has been displayed in a formal setting.
