Bells will be ringing at Olde Tyme Christmas
Olde Tyme Christmas in downtown Vandalia will have a new sound to it this year. That sound will be bells ringing in the 300 block of West Gallatin Street.
Chime Masters is bringing its Mobile Millennium carillon to Vandalia, the larger of only two traveling carillons in the United States.
The Mobile Millennium carillon was produced in The Netherlands in the early 1990s, and it traveled throughout Europe for 16 years before being moved to the United States.
Chime Masters is having a native of The Netherlands operate the carillon in Vandalia, Carlo J. van Ulft, the director and carillonist of the Centralia Carillon.
The Mobile Millennium carillon will be located in front of the Vandalia Statehouse on Friday evening.
