? Judy Terstegge-Diller, a former St. Elmo resident, will hold a book signing for "Beyond Life" from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the St. Elmo Library. The book is about dreams that she has experienced since the death of her oldest son, Charlie, at age 23, and how to help teenagers with grief, depression and being themselves.

? The Shoal Creek Chapter of ABATE will meet at 1 p.m. at the VFW Home in Taylor Springs.
? The regular meeting of the Brownstown-Effingham area Tea Party will be held at 6:30 p.m. at party headquarters behind the main grandstand at the Effingham County Fairgrounds in Altamont.
 Monday, August 5

? First Baptist Church in Vandalia and First National Bank will sponsor an AARP driver safety class, to be held from 1-5 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday at the Senior Center, 616 W. Jackson St., Vandalia. The cost is $12 for AARP members and $14 for others. Those who complete the class will receive a certificate that they can give to their insurance companies for a three-year discount. The course is open to the first 25 people who call 283-3670 to register. Louis Frick is the instructor.
? The Vandalia City Council will meet at 7:30 p.m. at city hall.

? The Network Masters chapter of Business Networking International, which includes Vandalia, meets every Tuesday morning in the conference room at 3 Point Ink, 1550 U.S. Route 40 in Greenville. Open marketing begins at 7:45 a.m., and the meeting runs from 8-9:30 a.m. For more information, contact chapter President Greg Tomlinson at 292-2267.
? Evans Public Library will host a storytime, "School Daze," at 10 a.m. Children of all ages are welcome.
? The Vandalia Rotary Club will meet at noon at Ponderosa Steakhouse.
? The Grandparents/Relatives Raising Children Support Group will meet from 1-2 p.m. at Evans Public Library in Vandalia. The group meets months, and provides support, education and access to additional resources, including financial assistance. For more information, call 1-888-560-8805.
? TOPS IL 2020 will meet in the Fayette County Hospital conference room. Weigh-in is from 5-5:30 p.m., with the meeting to follow.
? Heartland Human Services will offer a Caregiver Connection seminar, "Medication Safety," from 3-4 p.m. in the conference room at Brookstone Estates, 1607 W. Fillmore St., Vandalia. Refreshments will be provided.
? The Fayette County Genealogical and Historical Society will meet at 6 p.m. in the Lincoln Room at Evans Public Library in Vandalai. Linda Hanabarger will present the program, "Tips for Organizing and Charting Your Family History." The public is invited to attend. The society's board will meet at 5 p.m., also in the Lincoln Room.

? The Vandalia Chamber of Commerce will meet at noon in the Lincoln Room at Ponderosa Steakhouse. John Ashdown, executive director of the Family YMCA of Fayette County, will present the program.
? The Vandalia Day Unit of Home and Community Education will host members of the Vandalia Shamrocks 4-H club at its meeting at 1:30 p.m. at the Fayette County Extension Office, 118 N. Sixth St., Vandalia. The 4-H members will present displays they created throughout the year.
