Taylor picked to succeed retiring Lindberg at FAYCO
The man who has served as the executive director for FAYCO Enterprises the past quarter century has announced his upcoming retirement. He has also announced the person who will succeed him.
Bob Lindberg said on Monday that he will be retiring at the end of June, and that Kim Taylor will take over as the executive director of the rehabilitation center for individuals with disabilities on July 1.
Lindberg is a Greenville resident who has worked to assist developmentally disabled individuals for 48 years, and served as the first president of the Illinois Association of Rehabilitation Facilities.
After his retirement, Lindberg will continue to assist FAYCO as a consult, on an as-needed basis.
Taylor is a Vandalia resident who has worked at FAYCO since 1983.
She has served as FAYCO’s division director of finance and support since 1992.
As executive director, Taylor will be responsible to the board of directors for the overall operation and funding of the non-profit organization.
Lindberg said Taylor is a good choice to follow him.
“With more than 29 years of experience in the provision of services to persons with disabilities, Kim has come to know not only the field of community services, but also the individuals we serve and those providing the services.
“In appointing her to this position, our board of directors is confident that she is definitely the individual who best knows the agency and is most-suited to lead the agency into the future,” he said.
Taylor, who has roots in the Effingham area, earned a bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership from Greenville College. She also hold degrees in accounting and data processing from Lake Land College.
FAYCO is a community-based public service organization that assists people with disabilities in Fayette, Bond, Montgomery and Jefferson counties, and in adjacent counties.
The agency got its start in Vandalia in 1975, when a group of local residents approached the Fayette County Board about using the former county nursing home on Ill. Route 185 northwest of Vandalia, across from the county highway garage.
Since its start, FAYCO has offered disabled individuals a variety of employment opportunities. It has also placed a number of its clients in its continually expanding residential program.
In September 2010, FAYCO took over the local recycling program offered by the Fayette County Soil and Water Conservation District, and expanded that program.
It now has 24-hour drop-off sites in Vandalia, Ramsey, Brownstown, St. Peter, Farina and St. Elmo.
In December, FAYCO opened its new recycling center at 2022 Wagner St. on Vandalia’s north side.
