VVFD holding fundraiser on Saturday
The Vandalia Volunteer Fire Department will hold a fundraiser this Saturday evening at The Copper Penny, 125 S. Fourth St. Members of the VVFD will be working as guest waiters and bartenders, accepting tips and donations, beginning at about 5 p.m.
Later in the evening, the VVFD will be giving away items and gift certificates donated by local businesses about every half hour. They are also holding a raffle for a 32-inch LCD HD television, with tickets being $10 each.
Mark Miller, a VVFD member, will be serving as DJ for the evening.
Girl Scout summer camp is canceled
The Girl Scout summer camp, scheduled for July 16-20, has been canceled due to the heat and dry conditions.
SAFE Charity Luncheon is July 18
SAFE (Sexual Assault & Family Emergencies) will hold its annual Charity Golf Tournament Luncheon from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. next Wednesday at the Vandalia Moose Lodge.
The cost is $10, and the menu will include shaved smoked ham with assorted homemade cheeses, pulled pork in homemade apple butter barbecue sauce, homemade tuna and chicken salad, homemade salads, chips with homemade French onion dip, a vegetable tray with ranch dressing, assorted buns and crackers, fruit, dessert and drinks.
Pool's Moonlight Madness is Friday
The Vandalia Municipal Swimming Pool will hold Moonlight Madness from 6-11:30 p.m. this Friday.
Admission is $6. Parents are asked to pick up their children by 11:45 p.m.
BHS cheerleaders to hold car wash
The Brownstown High School cheerleaders will hold a free car wash from 8 a.m.-noon this Saturday at Andy's Auto Body on U.S. Route 40.
Reunion dinner deadline is Thursday
This Thursday is the last day to make dinner reservations for the Brownstown Alumni Reunion. To make reservations, contact Nancy Pryor at 427-3592.
The reunion will be held on Saturday, July 21, at the Vandalia Moose Lodge.
