Michael Jones joins The Law Group as tax attorney

A Tennessee native who attended college in Memphis and law school in Mississippi  has recently joined the LeFevre Oldfield Myers Apke and Payne Law Group Ltd., with offices in Vandalia and Effingham.

Michael Pierce Jones was sworn in to the Illinois Bar on May 11. In addition to being licensed to practice law in Illinois, he also is licensed in Tennessee and Mississippi.
Jones attended the University of Memphis, graduating in 2006  with a bachelor of arts degree in political science. He attended the University of Mississippi Law School, where he was on the dean's list all three years of law school and was an editor for the Mississippi Law Journal during his second and third years of law school. He graduated magna cum laude in 2010 with a juris doctorate degree.
After law school, Jones attended the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he earned a master's degree in tax law in the summer of 2011.
He will concentrate his practrice in the areas of tax, estate planning, gifting and business transactions, which were his areas of emphasis during his master's degree studies.
With the addition of Jones, the Law Group now has seven attorneys practicing in a variety of aspects of the law – divorce, real estate, litigation, business planning, estate planning, criminal and probate.
The firm has offices in Vandalia (283-3034) and Effingham (217-347-3034). The Vandalia office is located at 303 S. Seventh St., while the Effingham office is located at 215 N. Fourth St.
