Remembering Those Who Gave All

Memorial Day observances were held on Monday in Vandalia, St. Elmo and Brownstown.

In the first photo, veteran Floyd Meseke stands at attention during the playing of "Taps" at the services held by Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95 of Vandalia. In the second photo, Marion Mayfield, a local veteran currently serving in the Navy aboard the USS Texas, speaks during the Vandalia services. In the third photo, St. Elmo native Lyndon Willms delivers the keynote address at the services held by the St. Elmo American Legion Post. In the fourth photo is 7-year-old Logan Nance, who accompanied his grandfather, Bret Brosman, to help Crawford-Hale Post 95 put up and take down its Avenue of Flags display.
