Cecil Leon Cheshier, 87, of Ventura, Calif., formerly of Vandalia, died on Friday, March 23, 2012, following a brief illness.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 31, at Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura, with the Rev. Dan Hull officiating. Online condolences may be shared at www.TedMayrFuneralHome.com.
Mr. Cheshier was born on Jan. 22, 1925, in Vandalia, the son of James and Zola Cheshier.
He was employed with Getty Oil, now Chevron, as a maintenance supervisor, retiring in 1985. A 1943 graduate of Vandalia High School, Mr. Cheshier attended every class reunion.
He is survived by a son, Joe Cheshier of Yreka, Calif.; daughter, Susan DeLosSantos of Visalia, Calif.; brother, Robert Cheshier of Sterling; sister-in-law, Lois Rohlfing of Ventura, Calif.; brother-in-law, Gerald Lockart of Vandalia; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy, in 2010; and a son, Gary, in 2011.
