Albert C. Lattig, 96, Litchfield

Albert Charles Lattig, 96, of Litchfield, and formerly of Fayette County, passed away on Monday, March 5, 2012, at Physicians Regional Medical Center in Naples, Fla.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at First Baptist Church in Litchfield. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield. Visitation will be held one hour before services at the church. Hough and Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro was in charge of arrangements. Memorials: First Baptist Church of Litchfield.

Mr. Lattig was born on Feb. 29, 1916, in Fayette County, the son of Claire E. and Myrtle Margritz Lattig. He married Dorothy Whitten; she died in 1977. He later married Nina J. Patton.

He attended Valparaiso Vocational School, and he worked as a radio communications supervisor for the Illinois State Police, retiring after 35 years of service at District 12 in Effingham. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Effingham, but attended First Baptist Church in Litchfield. He belonged to the Greenville Amateur Radio Club and Effingham Country Club. He enjoyed working on radio equipment, playing golf, building computers, going to auctions, riding motorcycles and playing board games.

He is survived by his wife; sons, Craig Lattig of Boynton Beach, Fla., and Krail Lattig and his wife Ann of Chatham; daughter, Terri Lattig of Springfield; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and seven nephews and six nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and four brothers.
