Lexie E. Carter, 97, Greenville

Lexie E. Carter, 97, of Greenville, died at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012, at Fair Oaks Nursing Home in Greenville.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville, with the Revs. Conrad Stone and Bruce Sasse officiating. Burial will be in Taylor Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday and one hour before services on Wednesday, both at the funeral home. Memorials: Columbus Baptist Church or Fair Oaks Nursing Home.

Mrs. Carter was born on Nov. 6, 1914, on the Cripe farm in Seminary Township, Fayette County, the daughter of William Clayton and Mary Margaret Heather Cripe. She married Eldon F. Carter on Aug. 17, 1931, in Salem; he died on Aug. 4, 1979.

She is survived by two children, Mary Ann and her husband Charles Gaultney of Troy, and Donna J. Haslett of Greenville.
