Ira S. Oglesby Sr., 80, Vandalia

Ira Sylvester Oglesby Sr., 80, of Vandalia, died at 10:45 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012, at Vandalia Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Vandalia.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville, with Darryl Bolen officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery. Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday and from 10 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday, both at the funeral home.Memorials: Vandalia Rehabilitation & Health Care Center or Parkinson’s Foundation.

Mr. Oglesby was born on Sept. 10, 1931, in Vandalia, the son of Ira Otis Sr. and Edith Hendricks Oglesby. He was raised by his uncle, Bud Hindricks, in Greenville. He married Betty J. Muller on Nov. 11, 1950, at First Baptist Church in Taylorville; she died on Dec. 29, 2005.

He is survived by his children, Jim I. Oglesby of Springfield, Ira Oglesby Jr. and his wife Donna of Greenville, Randy Oglesby and his wife Diana of Greenville, Ronald Oglesby and his wife Janet of Mulberry Grove, John Oglesby and his wife Lynn of Highland, Kathy Oglesby of Kincaid and Brenda Oglesby of Vandalia.
