Foodbank serves 267 households

With 53 local volunteers helping with the distribution of food, the Central Illinois Foodbank mobile pantry served 267 households on Saturday morning in the parking lot at Pinnacle Foods in St. Elmo.

Food was given out to 986 individuals, with that total including 435 children. Helping with the distribution were members of the Fayette County Farm Bureau, Soroptimist International of Vandalia, St. Elmo Lions Club, St. Elmo FFA and ICCS, as well as Pinnacle employees.

Janeta Smith of Herrick hands out cake mixes donated by Pinnacle Foods. Pinnacle also donated syrup, frosting and barbecue sauce, along with allowing the distribution to be held on its lot.
