MG Trap Team finishes season
The Mulberry Grove Trap Team competed at the Sam Jenny Memorial Shoot on July 10 in Highland.
Ryan Raetz was the overall runner-up with a 96 of 100 birds at 16 yards and 95 of 100 birds in the handicap event at 21 yards.
Skylar Lutz was the ladies handicap champion with 83 of 100. Jack Criner was the sub-junior handicap champion with an 83 of 100 birds.
The team competed at the SCTP Nationals held in Sparta in July, and the high school squad hit 886 of 1,000.
The high school squad consisted of Lutz, Val Criner, Raetz, Jesse Jernigan and Dylan Wagoner.
The junior high squad included Kyle Blankenship, Kyle Klawitter, Chandler Mosley, Les Jernigan and Dawson Enlow.
Newt Albert shot 182 of 200 and Jack Criner hit 186 of 200 as alternates.
The team’s last competition for the year was the Grand National AIM Championships in August.
The high school squad included Albert, Raetz, Val Criner, Lutz, and Jesse Jernigan. They hit 918 of 1,000 birds.
The junior high squad hit 867 of 1,000 birds. That team included Les Jernigan, Blankenship, Klawitter, Mosley and Jack Criner. Enlow shot 154 of 200 as an alternate.
The awards banquet to celebrate the year will be held next Monday.
The Mulberry Grove Trap team recently completed another successful year competing in local, state and national trap shooting competitions. This program has been in existence and thriving for five years.
The team has decided to expand in 2012 and offer participation to all school-age kids in the area.
