Iris O. Kruenegel, 74, Shobonier

Iris O. Kruenegel, 74, of Shobonier, died at 2:35 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 19, 2011, at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Augsburg Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Shobonier, with the Rev. Bruce Milash officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday and one hour before services on Thursday, both at the church. Pagel Funeral Home in St. Peter was in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Augsburg Angels, Augsburg Immanuel Lutheran Church or American Red Cross.
Mrs. Kruenegel was born on Sept. 10, 1937, in Fayette County, the daughter of Walter and Olga Wodtke Summann. She married Charles Kruenegel on March 2, 1957, at Augsburg Immanuel Lutheran Church.
She was a homemaker, a member of Augsburg Immanuel Lutheran Church and the church’s Ladies Aid, and was a founding member of the Country Cousins Card Club.
She is survived by a son, David Allen Kruenegel and his wife Stacy of Shobonier; daughter, Carol Ann Shook of Mattoon; sister, Emily and her husband Don Ehrat of Shobonier; sisters-in-law, Ruth Summann of Shobonier, and Flo-Ann and her husband Keith Klukis of Oviedo, Fla.; grandchildren, Tyler Kruenegel and his wife Karlee, Meredith Shook, Adam Shook and Jamie Kruenegel; and a great-grandchild, Grant Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Paul Summann.
