2:46 p.m. Tuesday: Baker guilty of murder, home invasion

Loogootee teen Clifford Baker has been found guilty of first-degree murder and home invasion.

The jury received the case at 11:06 a.m., and at 1:45 p.m., trial Judge Michael McHaney read a question from the jury, in which they asked whether they would be allowed to leave the building before the courtroom was emptied.

The judge replied with a question: "Does this mean you've reached a verdict?" The answer: "Yes."

A short time later, McHaney read the verdict sheets which indicated that the jury had found Baker guilty of two counts of first-degree murder and three counts of home invasion.

The 16-year-old Loogootee teen was charged with entering the home of Mike Mahon and Deb Tish in the early morning hours of Aug. 4, 2010, and fatally shooting the couple.

He was also charged with entering the home of Steve and Randy Krajefska, and attacking Randy Krajefska while brandishing a knife.

A sentencing hearing for Baker has been set for 9 a.m. on Sept. 30.
