Rebbe among LLC students honored
Several Lake Land College Honors Program students were recognized recently at the annual honors luncheon.
There were 11 sophomores in the Honors Program in 2010-11, Kathleen Rebbe of Brownstown, elementary education major.
“As you can imagine, I am extremely proud of these students and all that they have accomplished,” said Maria Boerngen, agriculture business instructor and honors program director.
Boerngen said she was pleased to announce the program grew to 15 students for the 2010-11 year, and that those students completed a total of 24 honors courses during the fall and spring semesters.
“The honors program has grown by 200 percent in the past three years, and I am hopeful that we can maintain growth and momentum by continuing to attract the very best and brightest students to the program,” she said.
To become part of the honors program, entering freshmen must enroll in a college transfer program at Lake Land College and submit an application package, including a completed application form, an official high school transcript, a copy of the applicant’s ACT/SAT record and two letters of recommendation.
Applicants must meet at least two of the following eligibility requirements: ACT composite score of 25 or above, high school GPA of 3.5 on a 4-point scale or equivalent, or graduation in the top 10 percent of their high school class.
Current Lake Land College students must be enrolled in a college transfer program and submit an application package, including a completed application form, an official Lake Land College transcript and one letter of recommendation from a Lake Land College instructor to Boerngen.
To be eligible, applicants must maintain a grade-point average of at least 3.5 on a 4-point scale in transfer classes after the completion of at least 12 semester hours at Lake Land College.
