UPDATE-Friday, 2:45 p.m.: Murder trial to stay in Fayette County

The jury trial for a Loogootee teen charged with murdering a neighbor couple is now scheduled to begin on Aug. 15, and it's scheduled to be held in Fayette County.

In a written ruling he issued late this week, Judge Michael McHaney denied a motion in which attorneys for Clifford Baker asked that his trial be moved to another county.

Baker, 16, is charged with fatally shooting 60-year-old Mike Mahon and 53-year-old Deb Tish in their Loogootee home in the early morning hours of Aug. 4, 2010. Baker is also charged with home invasion for entering the home of another couple and striking one of its residents.

McHaney ruled that the pool of prospective jurors be increased from the standard number of 60 to 120. Jury selection is set to begin the morning of Aug. 15, with groups of 30 potential jurors to be called in at a time.
