• Vit-Em-In Sunday School Class potluck, noon, in the fellowship hall of First United Methodist Church.
Sunday, Jan. 23
• Historical Vandalia Inc. and the Fayette County Museum at Vandalia will have the third Season of Entertainment fundraiser, a program on the history of the DeMoulin Factory at Greenville. It will be given at 2 p.m. in the Vandalia First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, which is handicapped accessible.
Tickets are $15 each and may be purchased at the Fayette County Museum, which is open from 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

Future Announcement
A chili supper fundraiser will be held for the Viramontes Family from 5-7 pm. on Sunday, Jan. 30, in the First Church of God S.H.E.D. A concert with the Jeff Higginson Band will follow the dinner.
Joining together to host the benefit are the St. Elmo Ministerial Alliance, St. Elmo Business Association, Lions Club, Masonic Lodge, Cub Scouts and Royal Neighbors.
Library Board
At the meeting of the St. Elmo District Library Board held the evening of Jan. 13 in the St. Elmo Public Library, the board learned that the Beecher City Branch Library has moved into its new building. Phone and Internet have been hooked up, and books are being shelved.
The board discussed additional charges incurred by Barr Construction relating to the move.
Also discussed was the feasibility of getting an e-book program. Currently, the cost would be $3,000 per year. The meeting adjourned at 8:12 p.m.
Friendship Quilt Club
Because of the snow and ice, the Friendship Quilt Club meeting scheduled for Jan. 11 at the St. Elmo Public Library was canceled.
Lunch Bunch
The monthly meeting of the Lunch Bunch was held at noon on Jan.13 at Mary Ann’s Restaurant, and only three attended: Gene and Avis Clark of Salem and Karen Denning of St. Elmo.
Lions Club
Present for the meeting of the St. Elmo Lions Club held the evening of Jan. 10 at Mary Ann’s Restaurant were Don Crawford, John Crawford, Lewis Crawford, Pee Wee Denton, Roger Fulk, Richard Lowe, David Maxey, Charles Moore, Dee Newberry, Lloyd Stanley and Randy Wolf.
President Maxey led in the pledge of allegiance. Lowe gave the meal blessing, and after the meal, the business meeting was held.
This was the anniversary month for three members: Newberry, nine years; LeMar Marchman, five years; and Gary Graham, four years.
Maxey gave a quick recap of the Caring and Sharing distribution held on Dec. 18. It was a great success and a lot was learned to help make next year’s event even smoother, he said. The club extends many thanks to all who donated and/or participated.
The Lions Club Christmas Dinner and Scholarship Awards Banquet held the evening of Dec. 20 at Mary Ann’s Restaurant was termed a success. Maxey thanked all who contributed their efforts.
The Lions Club will help with the fundraiser for the Viramontes Family that will be a dinner and concert from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 30 at the First Church of God S.H.E.D.
This year’s Lions Club annual pancake and sausage breakfast will be held on Saturday, March 5, at the Phillips Building.
The annual Defensive Drivers’ Course will be held in March, with the date to be announced later. Also, the date will be announced later for the forthcoming annual diabetes awareness campaign.
American Legion
A short meeting of the American Legion Post #420 was held the evening of Jan. 11 at the Legion Home, with the following present: Doyle Beck, Xon Hanna, Clement Lilly, Ernie Myers, Max Watson and Laverne Wright.
A prom letter was received, and they voted to donate $25 to the school prom. The only other business was about the large letters that will be applied at the south end of the Legion home.
