Joe C. ‘Sonny’ Morgan, 76, Ohio
Joe Charles “Sonny” Morgan, 76, of Westerville, Ohio, and formerly of Brownstown, died on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at Mt. Carmel East Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.
Graveside services with Masonic rites will be held at 11:20 a.m. on Thursday at Griffith Cemetery in rural Brownstown, with the Rev. Joe Lawson officiating. Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday at Hohlt & File Funeral Home in Vandalia. Services were also held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Columbus Baptist Temple in Columbus, Ohio, with Pastor Paul Gabriel officiating; visitation was held from 5 p.m. until time of services.
Mr. Morgan was born on June 17, 1934, in Kilgore, Texas, the son of J.K. and Bonnie Lanier Morgan.
He worked for Tri-State, driving handicapped children, and was a member and past master of Temperance Lodge No. 16 A.F. & A.M. of Vandalia.
He is survived by his wife, Penny Haynes Morgan; son, Kelly Mac Morgan and his wife Angie of Mt. Vernon; daughters, Jan and her husband Steve Collins of Kirksville, Mo., Jodi Morgan of Effingham, and Jeri Sue and her husband Scott Wernsing of Effingham; stepson, Robert Lee; stepdaughters, Jean Farrar, Billie Blankenship, and Kathy and her husband Bruce Olin; brother, James Kenneth Morgan and his wife Beverly of Cerro Gordo; sister, Joyce Ann and her husband Bill Eubank of Mulberry Grove; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Billie Jean Diveley.
