Dwight Britt, 85, Missouri

Dwight Britt, 85, of St. Charles, Mo., and formerly of Patoka, died on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010, at Breeze Park Center in St. Charles.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Hillcrest Cemetery in rural Centralia, with the Rev. David Rogers officiating. Day Funeral Home in Patoka is in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Patoka Baptist Church. Online condolences may be made at www.dayfuneralhomes.com.
Mr. Britt was born on March 22, 1925, in rural Patoka, the son of Orville and Anna Bopp Britt. He married Roberta Sparks on March 2, 1952, in Patoka.
He lived in Patoka all of his life until moving to Missouri in 2009 for health reasons. He was a farmer for his entire working career. He was a member of Patoka Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was a member of Patoka American Legion Post 543. He formerly served as the supervisor of Patoka Township for 26 years and on the Marion County Board for 14 years. He was a member of the Marion County Farm Bureau Board of Directors for many years. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theater.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Robert Britt of Chicago, and Mark Britt and his wife Andrea of St. Peters, Mo.; daughter, Jean and her husband Roger Schaffner of Champaign; sister, Helen Merryman of Centralia; and grandchildren, Kate Britt and Lauren Britt, both of St. Peters, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harry, Samuel and Dale Britt; and sisters, Eula Britt and Alice Chance.
