Police holding ‘no questions asked’ collection
The Vandalia Police Department, in conjunction with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, will conduct a “no questions asked” collection of pharmaceuticals and other medications that are expired, unwanted or unused.
Residents may place the items in a box that will be in the lobby of the police department at 221 S. Fifth St.
Police will not ask those taking advantage of the service for identification and will not attempt to identify those people in any manner.
Those using the service should remove name labels from prescription bottles before dropping them off, and liquids should be in bottles with tightly sealed caps.
Intravenous solutions, injectibles and syringes will not be accepted.
The collected items will be destroyed by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency.
