Una Marie Elam, 71, of Vandalia, died at 8:12 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010, at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia.
Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at Hohlt & File Funeral Home in Vandalia, with the Rev. Pete LeDuc officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery in Mulberry Grove. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Memorials: American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
Ms. Elam was born on June 10, 1939, in Vandalia, the daughter of Raymond L. and Dorothy E. Corson Bingaman.
She was a seamstress at P.N. Hirsch and a school crossing guard, and she enjoyed gardening. She was affiliated with the Methodist and Baptist faiths.
She is survived by sons, Lavern D. Elam and his wife Ruthann of Mulberry Grove, Dewayne E. Elam and his wife Deborah Jo of Vandalia, and Verlin G. Elam of Vandalia; daughter, Kathy L. Elam of Vandalia; ex-husband, Lowell D. Elam; grandchildren, Racquel and her husband Jeremy Miller of Vandalia, Myranda Elam and her fiancé Lucas Lash of Vera, Nathaniel Elam of Vandalia, Shyantel Elam of Vandalia, Bethany Booker of Vandalia, Kelly Booker of Vandalia and Jessica Booker of Vandalia; great-grandchildren, Anthony Miller, Morgan Miller and Darcey Lash; stepgrandchildren, Stacey and her husband Shaun Pryor of Vandalia, and Kenny Weldon of Missouri; and great-stepgrandchildren, Amiee Halstead, Amber Halstead and Alex Pryor.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Cynthia Nichols.
