Four general surgeons from Effingham will begin providing care to patients at Fayette County Hospital next week.
Dr. Kevin Malone, Dr. James Flaig, Dr. Lisa Kowalski and Dr. Jason McAllaster will see patients in the specialty clinic located on the second floor of the hospital, beginning Aug. 31.
Malone joined the Effingham Surgical Associates and has been practicing in Effingham since 1996 after completion of his surgical residency at the University of Florida. He attended medical school at Wayne State Medical School in Detroit, Mich. He is board- certified through the American Board of Surgery.
Flaig joined Dr. Malone and the Effingham Surgical Associates in 2006. He completed his surgical residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey after obtaining his degree in osteopathic medicine from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is board-certified through the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery.
Kowalski is board-certified through the American Board of Surgery and has been practicing general surgery in Effingham since 1997, after completing medical school and her surgical residency at Southern Illinois University. She is a member of the Marshall Clinic.
McAllaster joined the Marshall Clinic in 2009 and has been practicing general surgery in Effingham since that time. He attended medical school at the University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, Mo. He competed his residency training in general surgery at Des Peres Hospital in St. Louis.
