George C. Wilkerson, 56, Shobonier

George C. Wilkerson, 56, of Shobonier, died at 1:38 p.m. on Sunday, June 6, 2010, at his home.

Services will be held at 6 p.m. this Wednesday at Shobonier Church in Shobonier, with the Rev. Sam Hester officiating. Private burial will be at a later date. Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Wilkerson was born on Oct. 21, 1953, in Centralia, the son of Glenn Dale Sr. “Tom” and Iona Howard Wilkerson.

He is survived by a daughter, Andrea of Illinois; three grandchildren; brothers, Glenn "Bud" Wilkerson of Iuka, Steve Wilkerson of Salem, Mike Wilkerson of Mulberry Grove, Jeff Wilkerson of Collinsville, Brian Wilkerson of Shobonier and Mark Wilkerson of Hagarstown; sisters, Suzanne Swofford of Oregon and Barbara Metzdorff of Shobonier; and several nephews, nieces and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, John and David.
