Charles O. Parvin, 91, Vandalia
Charles Orville Parvin, 91, of Fredericksburg, Va., and formerly of Vandalia, died on Friday, May 14, 2010, at Woodmont Nursing Home in Fredericksburg.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 24, at Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia, with the Rev. Viktoria Halmagyi officiating. Gallatin St., Vandalia 62471, where Mr. Parvin taught Sunday School.
Mr. Parvin was born on June 14, 1918, in Saybrook, Ill., the son of Charles O. and Mabel Johnson Parvin.
He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1940 and served in the Army during World War II. He was employed by Doran Oil Co. in Vandalia and then was an accountant for many years at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Geraldine; sons, Landon of Fredericksburg, Greg of Pompano Beach, Fla., and Jeffrey of Rincon, Ga.; and grandsons, Maxwell of Fredericksburg and Derek of Rincon.
