St. Elmo board OKs co-op agreement
One day after the Brownstown Board of Education told a large group of that community’s residents that an extracurricular cooperative agreement is essentially a work in progress, the St. Elmo School Board approved that agreement.
And in approving the document submitted by a committee made up of representatives from the two communities, the St. Elmo board said it wants the Brownstown board to vote on that document by the end of this month.
At their meeting on Thursday, St. Elmo School Board members said they were of the understanding that the Brownstown would take a final vote on the proposed agreement at its meeting on Wednesday.
St. Elmo Superintendent Deb Philpot told the school board members that an agreement needs to be in place in the very near future if the two schools plan to join together for all extracurricular activities in the fall.
