David L. Crye Jr., 48, Vandalia

David Lee Crye Jr., 48, of Vandalia, died at 2:44 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, in the emergency room at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Vandalia, with Dr. Roger Grimmett officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Monday and one hour before services on Tuesday at the church. Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia was in charge of arrangements. Memorials: American Cancer Fund or donor’s choice.

Mr. Crye was born on Feb. 5, 1961, in Vandalia, the son of David Lee Sr. and Barbara Joan Janes Crye. He married Nancy Ann Began on Oct. 30, 1982, in Effingham.

He was a dietary manager for the Illinois Department of Corrections at Vandalia Correctional Center, and a member of Temperance Lodge No. 16 A.F.&A.M. of Vandalia, Scottish Rite Valley of Southern Illinois in Belleville, Ainad Temple Shrine of East St. Louis, Old National Trail Club of Vandalia and ABATE.

He is survived by his wife; sons, David and Dustin Crye, both of Vandalia; daughter, Danielle Crye of Vandalia; father; and sisters, Martha and her husband Dr. James Brennan of Ballwin, Mo., and Stacey and her husband Arthur “Artie” Langston of Vandalia.

He was preceded in death by his mother.
