Ted ‘Tater’ Quandt, 61, Louisville

Ted “Tater” Quandt, 61, of Louisville and formerly of Farina, died at 1:42 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010, at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday at Friedens United Church of Christ in Farina, with the Rev. Bill Causer officiating. Burial was in Vernon Cemetery in Vernon, with military rites accorded by American Legion Post No. 914 of Louisville and American Legion Post No. 411 of Farina. Visitation was held from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday at the church. Pagel Funeral Home in St. Peter was in charge of arrangements. Memorial: Friedens United Church of Christ or donor’s choice.

Mr. Quandt was born on Jan. 5, 1949, in Fayette County, the son of Fred and Marguerite Simmons Quandt. He married Rose Mangiolardo on May 31, 1990, in Fayette County.

He had worked as a driller in the oil fields and in maintenance at World Color Press in Salem. He was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ and American Legion Post No. 914 of Louisville, and a former member of American Legion Post No. 411 of Farina. He was a Navy veteran, serving during the Vietnam war.

He is survived by his wife; son, Jerry Quandt and his wife Lynn of Effingham; daughter Victoria Quandt of Charlotte, N.C; brothers, Donald Quandt and his wife Kathy of Farina, and Richard Quandt and his wife Joyce of Effingham; sisters, Carolyn and her husband Dallas Sigrist of Farina, Shirley and her husband Leon Schaefer of Altamont, Charlotte and her husband John McGuire of Farina, and Bev Field of Kinmundy; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
