Viola J. Briscoe Clark, 82, Virginia

Viola Jewel Briscoe Clark, 82, of Elliston, Va., died on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009.

Services were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at Big Spring Baptist Church, with Pastors Ken Gray and Virgil McHone officiating. Burial was in Den Hill Cemetery. Visitation was held from 6-9 p.m. on Monday at the church. Horne Funeral Service in Christiansburg, Va., was in charge of arrangements. Memorials: A breast cancer charity of the donor’s choice.

Mrs. Clark was born on Jan. 2, 1927, the daughter of Martin Thomas and Hazel Aumiller Briscoe.

She was a member of Big Spring Baptist Church and loved to read.

She is survived by a daughter, Patricia and her husband Bryan Sirles of Pocahontas, Va.; sons, Trent Clark of Salem, Va., and Barry Clark and his wife Lisa of Salem, Va; granddaughters, Christina Kingrey and her fiancé Frank Justice of Salem, Va., and Bobbie Lovall of Salem, Va., and Crystal Clark of Vandalia; grandsons, Chris Clark of Vandalia and Adam Clark of Salem, Va.; great-grandson, Justin Kingrey of Salem, Va.; two brothers; one sister; numerous nieces and nephews; and lots of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur B. Clark; and a son, Larry Clark.
