Ivy ‘Evelyn’ LaDuke, 87, Mulberry Grove

Ivy “Evelyn” LaDuke, 87, of Mulberry Grove, died at 1:24 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009, at Helia Healthcare Facility in Greenville.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at Hohlt & File Funeral Home in Vandalia, with the Rev. Pete LeDuc officiating. Burial will be in McInturff Cemetery, rural Vandalia. Visitation will be held an hour before services on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials: Helia Healthcare Alzheimer’s Unit or Helia Healthcare Activity Fund.

Mrs. LaDuke was born on June 24, 1922, in Mulberry Grove, the daughter of Virgil and Sylvia Eyman Stone. She married Roland LaDuke on Nov. 1, 1941, in St. Louis, Mo.; he died on Oct. 25, 1992.

She was the tax assessor for Seminary, Pope and Bear townships for 10 years.

She is survived by daughters, Jean and her husband Kenneth Wehrle of Pennsylvania, and Judy and her husband Harold Swofford of Mulberry Grove; sister, Ellen and her husband Ernie Milhoan of Mulberry Grove; grandchildren, Kathy and Kent Emerick, Curt and Diane Swofford, Sandra and Scott Snider, Jenny Sue Wehrle, Jeff and Dawn Wehrle, and Elizabeth and Les Montgomery; eight great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Verlin and Ivan Stone; and sister, Betty Ward.
