Ronald Patton, 65, New Douglas

Ronald Patton, 65 of New Douglas, died on Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

Visitation will be Saturday from 2-4 p.m. at Highland Hope United Methodist Church, in Highland.

Memorial services will be 4 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Dan Perry officiating. Meredith Funeral Home in Highland is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Patton was born on Nov. 25, 1943, in Belleville, the son of Richard W. and Rohma nee Wisley Patton. He married Sharon Nickels on Nov. 25, 2000 in Vandalia.

He worked as a general construction contractor, enjoyed working on computers and loved his dog, Prancer. He was a member of Bethel-Baptist Church in Vandalia.

He is survived by his wife; four children, Robin Patton, of Dupo, Rodney Patton, of Sharpsberg, N.C., Crystal Goodin and her husband, Tracey, of St. Elmo, and Tina Sprague, of Vandalia; his mother; brothers and sisters Bill Patton and his wife, Sharon, of Oakdale, Connie McCain, of Breese; Rick Patton of Oakdale, and Tamela Loos and her husband, Dennis, of Belleville; three grandsons; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father.
