Ardin A. Brandt, 83, St. Peter
Ardin A. Brandt, 83, of St. Peter, died at 8:15 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2009, at his home.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in St. Peter, with the Rev. William Emrick officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in St. Peter, with military rites accorded by Veterans of Foreign Wars Old Capitol Post No. 3862 of Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until time of services at the church. Pagel Funeral Home in St. Peter was in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Illinois Neurofibromatosis Inc., St. Peter’s Lutheran Church or donor’s choice.
Mr. Brandt was born on July 26, 1925, in St. Peter, the son of Henry F. and Ella M. Pries Brandt. He married Isabelle B. “Issie” Mathieson on Nov. 9, 1973, in St. Peter, with Martin L. Travis officiating.
Mr. Brandt was a retired John Deere parts man in St. Peter and Farina. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, St. Peter American Legion Post No. 380, Veterans of Foreign Wars Old Capitol Post No. 3862 of Vandalia, a retired 40-year member of the St. Peter Volunteer Fire Department and a retired 28-year member of the St. Peter Fire Protection District Board of Trustees. He served on the St. Peter Village Board for 34 years, 16 of those as the village president. He served in the Army during World War II.
He is survived by his wife; daughter, Amy and her husband Glenn Greer of Charleston; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Brandt and Kay Brandt, both of St. Peter; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Erwin and Earl “Ponch” Brandt; and sisters, Leona Kaiser, Doris Brandt, Florene Brandt and Lucille Drewes.
