Patsy A. Waters, 77, Gillespie

Patsy Ann Waters, 77, of Gillespie and formerly of Vandalia, died at 3:40 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

Graveside services will be held at noon on Tuesday at McInturff Cemetery in Hagarstown, with the Rev. Daniel McDonald officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m.-noon at Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia.

Ms. Waters was born on Nov. 16, 1931, in Decatur, the daughter of William M. and Eva Belle Taylor Benner. She married Dale Franklin Waters on April 4, 1948, in Decatur; he died on Feb. 11, 1995. She married Irvan “Ed” Edwards in 2000 in Vandalia; he died in 2003.

She was a homemaker and was affiliated with First Pentecostal Church in Vandalia.

She is survived by a son, Daniel “Dan” Waters and his wife Charlotte of Springfield; daughter, Joann and her husband Michael Therien of O’Fallon, Mo.; brother, John Benner of West Lake Village, Calif.; sister, Jeanette Ditty of Decatur; grandchildren, Michelle Wilkerson, and Stacie and Stefanie Waters; great-grandchildren, Christopher, Cody, Alexis and Isabella; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; son, David, in 1977; brother, Lyle; and sister, Wilma Jean.
