E. Marquerite Quandt-Bolliger, 88, Farina

E. Marquerite Quandt-Bolliger, 88, of Farina, died at 7:20 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2009, at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Friedens United Church of Christ in Farina, with the Rev. Bill Causer officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in St. Peter. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday and one hour prior to services on Monday, both at the church. Pagel Funeral Home in St. Peter was in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Friedens United Church of Christ, Lutheran Care Center or donor’s choice.

Mrs. Quandt-Bolliger was born on Feb. 1, 1921, in Fayette County, the daughter of Artie and Clara Reynolds Simmons. She married Fred Quandt on Sept. 4, 1938, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in St. Peter; he died on Nov. 2, 1967. She married Ralph Bolliger on Nov. 8, 1975; he died on Nov. 8, 2002.

She had worked as a certified nurse’s assistant at Lutheran Care Center in Altamont. She was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ and the Farina American Legion Auxiliary, serving as membership chairman and vice president. She enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, cooking and flowers.

She is survived by sons, Donald Quandt and his wife Kathy of Farina, Richard Quandt and his wife Joyce of Effingham, and Ted Quandt and his wife Rose of Louisville; daughters, Carolyn and her husband Dallas Sigrist of Farina, Shirley and her husband Leon Schaefer of Altamont, Charlotte and her husband John McGuire of Farina, and Bev Field of Kinmundy; stepdaughter, Nancy and her husband Don Freitag of Minier; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and one great-stepgrandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; brother, Kenneth Simmons; and grandsons, Mark Sigrist and Matthew Quandt.
