Lawrence Delmar Robertson, 75, of Vandalia, died at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 13, 2009, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
Services were at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Vandalia, with Pastor Peter Kolb officiating. Burial with military rites was in Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia. Visitation was held from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday and one hour before services on Monday, both at the church. Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Robertson was born on Oct. 27, 1933, in Vernon, the son of Thomas Lawrence and Nella Amanda Brummett Robertson. He married Joan D. Heggemeyer on Oct. 2, 1955, in Tilden, Neb.
He was the president of McKellar, Robertson, McCarty and Click Insurance in Vandalia. He purchased the Louie Squibb Insurance Agency in 1976, and it merged into the McKellar, Robertson and McCarty agency in 1984. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Vandalia, Crawford-Hale American Legion Post No. 95 of Vandalia and the Gideon Society, was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan and delivered Meals on Wheels for many years. He served in the Army from 1955-61.
He is survived by his wife; son, Gregg Robertson of Vandalia; granddaughter, Katie Robertson Braun of Biloxi, Miss.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Lisa Ann, on Nov. 26, 1961; and a sister, Doris Campbell, and her husband, Raymond Campbell.
