George Byron Hill Jr., 40, Kane
George Byron Hill Jr., 50, of Kane and formerly of Alton, Nokomis and Greenville, died at 8:05 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009, at his home.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville, with the Rev. Dean Guymon officiating. Burial will be in Smith Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials: The family.
Mr. Hill was born on Sept. 11, 1968, in Greenville, the son of George Byron Sr. and Nina May Maroon Hill.
He grew up in Nokomis, and attended the public schools in Jacksonville, graduating from Jacksonville High School in 1988. He worked in the Alton area as a cab driver. He had diabetes.
He is survived by his mother; sisters, Nancy and her husband Ed Smith of Greenville, and Betty Earney of Greenville; brother, Michael Compton and his wife Diane of Highland; and seven nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Barbara May Compton.
