Mildred A. Pryor, 83, Vandalia

Mildred A. Pryor, 83, of Vandalia, died at 8:47 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Hohlt & File Funeral Home in Vandalia, with the Rev. Doug Wodtka officiating. Burial will be in South Hill Cemetery, Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of services on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials: The family.

Mrs. Pryor was born on Dec. 12, 1925, in Wendell, Minn., the daughter of Harold E. Kersten and Gertrude Elizabeth Martin. She married Floyd “Norman” Pryor on Nov. 29, 1945, in St. Elmo.

She was a retired cook for Washington School in Vandalia, and a member of the Haley Chapel Quilting Club and class party of Haley Chapel.

She is survived by her husband; daughter, Jan and her husband Joe Gillan of Vandalia; son, Dennis Pryor and his wife Rose of Mulberry Grove; Rosemary Allen of Alhambra; grandchildren, Andy Pryor, Keri Nugent, Eric Gillan and Marcia Barrish; and great-grandchildren, Destiny, Rachel, Hailie, Carson, Briana, Carter, Alexis and Keegan.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
