4 Soroptimist International of Vandalia will meet at noon at Ponderosa Steakhouse.

4 TOPS IL 1872, Ramsey, will meet at the Christian Church in Ramsey. Weigh-in is at 6 p.m., and the meeting is at 7 p.m. For more information, contact Sylvia Davis at 217-823-2607.

4 A meeting to gather input from the public on the future of the Liberty Theater building will be held at 6 p.m. at the Easterday Building, 529 W. Gallatin St. Topics to be discussed include possible funding options available and public sentiment.

Friday, September 12

4 The Vandalia Community High School Homecoming parade will start from VCHS at 2:30 p.m.

Saturday, September 13

4 The Golden Years Club will hold a ham and beans dinner at the club building, located at First and Division streets in Brownstown. Serving begins at 11 a.m. and continues until all food is sold. The menu will include ham and beans, cole slaw, dessert and drink. The cost is $5 for adults and children over 12, and $2 for children ages 6-10; children 5 and under will be served free. Carry-outs will be available.

4 The Vandalia Community High School Homecoming dance will be held from 8-11 p.m. in the VCHS gym, with the coronation at 8:30 p.m.

Monday, September 15

4 A playgroup for children up through 3 years of age will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at First Christian Church in St. Elmo. The playgroup is sponsored by Prevention Initiative/Pre-K of Fayette County. Snacks will be provided.

4 The Vandalia City Council will meet at 7:30 p.m. in council chambers at city hall.

Tuesday, September 16

4 A playgroup for children up through 3 years of age will be held from 10-11 a.m. at Brownstown Elementary School. The playgroup is sponsored by Prevention Initiative/Pre-K of Fayette County. Snacks will be provided.

4 The Vandalia Rotary Club will meet at noon at Ponderosa Steakhouse.

4 The Vandalia Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. in the district’s administration center.

4 A dance for seniors will be held at 7 p.m. at the Patoka Service Center, 210 W. Bond, Patoka. Admission is $5 per person.

Wednesday, September 17

4 A playgroup for children up through 3 years of age will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Ramsey. The playgroup is sponsored by Prevention Initiative/Pre-K of Fayette County. Snacks will be provided.

4 Bible Blitz will be held from 7-8 p.m. at Parkview Free Methodist Church, which is located at 1507 W. Jefferson St. in Vandalia, for all children age 3 through sixth-grade age. Bible Blitz includes Bible study, music, crafts and games. The church also offers a youth group for junior high- and high school-aged students, as well as an adult Bible Study. All gatherings are open to the public.

4 TOPS IL 2020 will meet at 5:45 p.m. in the Fayette County Hospital conference room. Weigh-in is from 5-5:45 p.m.

Thursday, September 18

4 The Fayette County Farm Bureau will hold its annual crop survey. The event begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Farm Bureau office on Sunset Drive, with local farmers, bank personnel and representatives of local agri-businesses canvassing the county. The results of the survey will be presented at the Farm Bureau’s Market Outlook, a steak cookout at 6 p.m. at the Farm Bureau building. Tickets for the meal are $5 each and available at the Farm Bureau office. The guest speaker will be Adam Nielson, the Illinois Farm Bureau’s director of issue management.
