Albert Lee ‘Lee’ Ray, 90, of Vandalia, died at 2:15 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008, at Fayette County Hospital Long Term Care in Vandalia.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home, with Pastor Linda Trowbridge officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials: First Christian Church or Fayette County Health Department Hospice.
Mr. Ray was born on April 26, 1918, in rural Mulberry Grove, the son of Albert Edwin and Ida Mae Koonce Ray. He married Bernadine ‘Bernie’ Helen Peyton on Dec. 27, 1941, in St. Louis, Mo.
He was the owner/operator of Ray’s Radio and TV in Vandalia, and was a former teacher in vocational electronics at Vandalia Community High School and Okaw Area Vocational Center. He was a member of First Christian Church in Vandalia.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Barbara and her husband Phillip Akeman of Altamont, and Suzanne and her husband Kurt Nelson of Corona, Calif.; grandchildren, Scott and Jeff Akeman, and Laurel Nelson; and great-grandchildren, Logan, Veronica, Rachel and Layne.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
