Lorna Mae Green, 77, Altamont

Lorna Mae Green, 79, of Altamont and formerly of St. Peter, died at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Services were to be held at 10 a.m. on Monday at St. Peters Lutheran Church in St. Peter, with the Rev. William Emrick officiating. Burial was to be in Sandy Branch Cemetery in rural Alma. Visitation was held from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday at Pagel Funeral Home in St. Peter and an hour before services on Monday at the church. Memorials: Sandy Branch Cemetery Care Fund or St. Peter Lutheran School.

Mrs. Green was born on Feb. 11, 1931, in St. Peter, the daughter of Victor and Aletha Meyer Drewes. She married Howard Keith Green Sr. on Sept. 4, 1949, at her parents home.

She was a homemaker, a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church and St. Peter American Legion Auxiliary, an election judge and a Fayette County American Red Cross blood drive volunteer.

She is survived by her husband; son, Howard Green Jr. and his wife Sheena of Effingham; daughters, Debbie and her husband Mike Hanson of Altamont, Susan and her husband Bob Smith and friend Tony Mount of Naples, Fla., and Paula and her husband Jim Jones of Effingham; sister, Geneva Porter of Vandalia; grandchildren, Ryan, Justin and Jared Jones, Lynsie, Chad and Chase Green, Blake Adams, and Connie and Scott Smith; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Glen Drewes.
