Cleo Paul ‘Pete’ Kious, 66, of Dwight and formerly of Mulberry Grove, died at 5:43 a.m. on Friday, May 30, 2008, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Streator.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at Mulberry Grove Cemetery in Mulberry Grove, with lay pastor Robert Chase officiating. Visitation was held on Monday evening at Hager Memorial Home in Dwight. Memorials: Dwight Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2806.
Mr. Kious was born on June 28, 1941, in Mulberry Grove, the son of Cleo Sr. and Ruth Hubbard Kious. He married Ethel Kissiar on June 8, 1962, in El Paso, Texas.
He was a truck driver for Hoffman Transportation in Dwight, and a member of Dwight VFW Post 2608, Dwight American Legion Post 486 and the Moose Lodge. He was a graduate of Mulberry Grove High School and served in the Army. He was a Methodist, and was an avid Dale Earnhardt Sr. fan and collector who enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife; daughter, Laura and her husband Jerry Schukar of Shobonier; son, Wayne Kious and his wife Lisa of Dwight; brother, Gary Kious and his wife Deb of Coffeen; grandchildren, Quinton, Austin and Alexis Schukar, and Kiefer and Kylie Kious; and godchildren, Carolyn Woods, Katie Gall and Korie Kissiar.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
