Lucille H. ‘Grandma’ Flechsig, 94, of Vandalia, died at 5;15 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2008, at Fayette County Hospital & Long Term Care in Vandalia.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia, with the Rev. Kenneth Hall officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of services on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials: Vera Baptist Church or Friends & Families of Fayette County Hospital.
Mrs. Flechsig was born on May 18, 1913, in Vera, the daughter of James R. and Ina V. Beckham Jackson. She married Roy Earnest Flechsig on Feb. 28, 1934, in Vandalia; he died on March 27, 1976. She married Jewell ‘Red’ Smith in 1980, and she married Samuel T. McMillin in 1989.
She was a retired employee of Crane Packing Co. in Vandalia, and was a member of Vera Baptist Church in Vera.
She is survived by a son, Chester M. Flechsig and his wife Arlene of Palatine; daughter, Thais and her husband Larry Ledbetter of Vera; grandchildren, Mike, Joe and Jim Flechsig, and Robert and Doug Ledbetter; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a sister; and a granddaughter, Terry Ann.
