Five local people who are currently on parole were arrested late last week on new charges during a targeted sweep of parolees conducted by four local agencies.
Also arrested during that sweep were three people who were with the parolees who were taken into custody.
The Illinois Department of Corrections, Fayette County Sheriffs Office, Illinois State Police and Vandalia Police Department participated in the parole compliance check conducted on Thursday.
Sheriff Aaron Lay said that 31 individuals were included in the parole check, and that eight parolees were brought in for interviews and testing.
Parolees who were arrested on charges of possession of cannabis and possession of drug equipment were:
Dawn M. Hughes Sanders, 36, RR 1, Bingham.
Regina L. Burks, 33, RR 1, Shobonier.
Robert D. Taylor, 23, 402 S. Sixth St., Vandalia.
Billy J. Warner, 40, 318 E. Third St., St. Elmo.
Michael E. McNish, 30, 214 N. Superior St., Ramsey.
Taylor was charged with possessing more than 30 grams of cannabis, and the others were charged with possession of up to 30 grams of cannabis.
Others arrested as a result of the compliance check were: Donald L. Kleinik, 52, 1311 W. St. Clair St., Vandalia; Chad W. Sidener, 27, Ramsey; and Chrystalynn A. Burgess, 26, 402 S. Sixth St., Apt. 2, Vandalia.
Kleinik was charged with possession of up to 30 grams of cannabis and possession of drug equipment, Sidener was charged with possession of drug equipment, and Burgess was arrested on a charge of possessing more than 30 grams of cannabis.
