Tillie Ward McIntosh, 79, of Mulberry Grove, died at 10:10 p.m. on Monday, March 10, 2008, at the home of her daughter, Della Garmon Simmons, in Mulberry Grove.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation will follow. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at GreenHill Cemetery near VanBurensburg, with the Rev. David Trover officiating. Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville is in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Bond County Hospice.
Mrs. Ward was born on May 4, 1928, in Hagarstown, the daughter of Frank and Sarah B. Shakley Ward. She married Howard C. McIntosh on May 17, 1947, in Vandalia; he died on Oct. 26, 2007.
She was reared in Hagarstown and near Mulberry Grove, attending Mulberry Grove country schools. She worked at the Johnson, Stephens & Shinkle Shoe Factory in Vandalia in her early years. After rearing her children, she worked as a waitress at Bel Air Restaurant and later at the Almar Pencil Factory in Vandalia, retiring in 1990. She was affiliated with Immanuel Lutheran Church in Augsburg.
She is survived by daughter, Della Garmon and her husband John S. Simmons; son, Phillip G. McIntosh and his wife Carol of Memphis, Tenn.; sister, Nina and her husband Harry Smith of Gillespie; grandchildren, David Garmon, Tony and her husband Mike Carver, Jessica and her husband Spencer Johnson, and Benjamin McIntosh; stepgrandchildren, Jewelian Hatcher and Joel Simmons; great-grandchildren, Guage, Whitney, Taylor, Jacob, Joshua, Brittany, Jordan, Spencer Jr. and Madison; and great-stepgrandchildren, Danielle.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Howard Thomas, in infancy; sister, Cindy Logsdon; brothers, Joe, Paul, Jerome, Charlie, Lloyd Bunny and Virgil Ward.
