Vivian Irma Dorr-Worstell, 80, of Greenville and formerly of Fayette County, died at 9:54 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008, at Greenville Regional Hospital in Greenville.
Services will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday at Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville, with Darryl Bolen officiating. Burial will be in Old Loogootee Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until time of servies on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials: Utlaut Hospital Auxiliary or donors choice.
Mrs. Dorr-Worstell was born on Nov. 15, 1927, in Taylorville, the daughter of Edward David and Frances Haywood Sparling. She married Charles Lester Dorr in May 1946 in Owaneco; he preceded her in death. She married Arthur Charles Worstell on Sept. 8, 2006, in Greenville.
She grew up in Taylorville and attended Taylorville schools. After she married Charles Lester Dorr, they lived in Owaneco and then in Assumption before moving to a farm in Loogootee in 1954. In 1991, they moved to St. Elmo and lived there until Vivian moved to Greenville following her husbands death. She had owned and operated Open Door Fabric Shop in Brownstown and later in St. Peter. She worked at Wal-Mart until moving to Greenville. She and her husband, Arthur, enjoyed traveling, and he lovingly cared for her during the months of her last illness. She was an active member of the Utlaut Hospital Auxiliary and Greenville First Christian Church.
She is survived by her husband; children, Charles Edward Dorr and his wife Ellen of St. Peter, Randy C. Door and his wife Lisa of Altamont, Nancy Dian, Mrs. Bernard K. Brown of Swisher, Iowa, Melody Yvonne Taylor of Gladewater, Texas, and Lori Leanne and her husband Randy Tappendorf of Altamont; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and sisters, Wilma Balinski and Jean Arnold, both of Phoenix Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a husband, Charles Lester Dorr; and a great-grandson, James Dorr.
