Mary Ann Gross, 75, of Centralia, died at 6:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008, at her residence.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Centralia, with the Rev. Jerry Gesell officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery near Centralia. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at Styninger-Pacey Funeral Home in Centralia. Memorials: Lutheran Church of the Redeemer or Alzheimers Research.
Mrs. Gross was born on June 13, 1932, in Vandalia, the daughter of Martin and Beatrice Scott Lester. She married Leonard Meyer, and they were later divorced. She married Edward H. Gross on Nov. 29, 1967, in Vandalia; he died on July 27, 1998.
She was a retired retail clerk at Goldes Department Store in Centralia, and was a member of Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Centralia and the Luther Annies. She enjoyed sewing and quilting.
She is survived by sons, Robert Meyer and his wife Nancy of Chicago Heights, Bruce Meyer and his wife Kelly of Walnut Hill, Bradley Meyer and his wife Karen Meyer of Centralia, Lyle Gross and his wife Angela of Centralia, and Lee Gross and his wife Jennifer of Central City; daughters, Emma Ward of Centralia, Cathy and her husband Jerry Gesell of Jacksonville, Fla., Beverly Stevens of Franklin, N.C., and Barbara and her husband Gary Harper of Galveston, Texas; brothers, Bill Lester of Springfield, John Lester of Vandalia and Dick Lester of North Carolina; sister, Sharon Lampe of Clinton; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and caring friends, Brenda Liddel, and Mary, Amber and Kelsie Edwards.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Bill and Brian Meyer; and a grandson, Michael.
