Delores J. ‘Jean’ McDaniel, 67, of Joliet and formerly of Ramsey, died at 4:50 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008, at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home in Joliet.
Services will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at Ramsey Christian Church in Ramsey, with Pastor Terry Sapp officiating. Burial will be at 1 a.m. on Wednesday at Brockville Cemetery in rural Newton. Visitation will be held from 3-6 p.m. on Tuesday at Ramsey Christian Church. Miller Funeral Homes in Ramsey is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. McDaniel was born on April 18, 1940, in Cowden, the daughter of William Wallace and Clara Evelyn Riley Petty. She married Robert Charles McDaniel on Sept. 1, 1961, in Decatur.
She was a nurse’s aide at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center for more than 15 years. She was a member of Ramsey Christian Church in Ramsey and Shorewood Church of God, a former village trustee for the village of Ramsey and was a March of Dimes volunteer for many years.
She is survived by her husband; sons, Robert W. McDaniel and his wife Jeanne of Lockport, and Roger C. McDaniel and his wife Lisa of Joliet; daughter, Alanna and her husband Greg Atkinson of Shorewood; brothers, Calvin Petty and his wife Joanna of Lexington, Ky., and Hansel Petty of Decatur; sister, Audra Schultz of Ramsey; and grandchildren, Larry McDaniel, Leslie McDaniel Hudson, Tori and Elijah Atkinson, and Sydnee and Bailee McDaniel.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
