Harold E. Smith, 89, of Saline, Mich., died on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007, at Heartland Health Care Center in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Services were held on Monday, Dec. 3, at 11 a.m. on Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home in Saline, Mich., with the Rev. Dr. James E. Tuttle officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery in Saline. A Masonic Lodge of Sorrows Service was held during visitation. Memorials: American Heart Association or Saline Masonic Lodge No. 133 A.F.&A.M.
Mr. Smith was born on Dec. 29, 1917, in Vandalia, the son of Edward DeFloyd and Essie Roe Smith. He married Bessie V. Sanders on June 21, 1940; she died on June 10, 2007.
He had been a Saline resident since 1959 and a member of First United Methodist Church in Saline for more than 40 years. He was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Shriners, Scottish Rites, High Twelve Club, Lions Club and Saline Senior Citizens.
He is survived by children, Connie and her husband Bruce Niethammer of Saline, and Keith Smith and his wife Deborah of Ann Arbor; four grandsons and one granddaughter; five great-grandchildren; and sister, Marjorie and her husband Mark Predovich of Mesa, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and brother, Voris Smith.
