Marie Funk, 101, of Vandalia, died at 1 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007, at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia, with the Rev. Pete LeDuc officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Memorials: Crown Point Community Church, rural Vandalia.
Mrs. Funk was born on Sept. 20, 1906, in Vandalia, the daughter of Roy William and Nellie Gertrude Shroyer Atwood. She married Roy Raymond Funk on Dec. 19, 1925, in rural Vandalia. He died on Nov. 1, 1986. She was a retired 30-year employee of Johnson, Stephens & Shinkle Shoe Co. in Vandalia, and a member of Crown Point Community Church in rural Vandalia.
She is survived by sons, Robert and his wife Una Funk, and Don and his wife Ellie Funk, both of Vandalia; grandchildren, Kay and her husband Frank Holt of Monument, Colo., Judy and her husband Steve Omara of Powder Springs, Ga., Carla and her husband Mike Mathews of Springfield, Melissa and her husband Dennis Hutchison of Vandalia, and Rodney Funk of Bloomington; six great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Irl Atwood; sisters, Viola Wright and Mary Hoskins; and two grandchildren.
